The NCCJ Tax Seminar on the 19th of April was held in the offices of PwC Tax Japan (PwC). The Japanese system is complicated with lots of sub elements in it. PwC’s Dutch manager Corporate Tax Services Jorg van Leeuwen organized a line-up of professionals giving the audience a 2017 Japan Tax Update. He started the presentation by briefly explaining the Japanese economic program called Abenomics. Some four years ago Prime Minister Shinzo Abe unveiled a comprehensive economic policy package to sustainably revive the Japanese economy while maintaining fiscal discipline. The two hours seminar on the latest tax reforms, many of which aim to further Japan’s goal to realize a600 trillion Yen GDP by the year 2020, had a high information density. Many subjects covered are starting points for other, more technical information sessions.

A month after the successful Shinnenkai on 24 January another business relations event was organized by the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (NCCJ) Japan. The year’s first edition of ‘Briefing & Drinks’ was hosted by NCCJ member Colliers International at their Roppongi Headquarters.

It was an evening of fun, fine food and friendship at the Netherland Chamber of Commerce in Japan’s 2017 Shinnenkai on 24 January. Held in collaboration with the Holland Alumni Network Japan, the event once again drew a large turnout to the Brasserie Va-tout in Roppongi.

Healthcare Companies Dominate NCCJ’s 2016 Deshima Business Awards

The challenges of providing quality and affordable healthcare for an aging population are key issues in Japan. So it is appropriate that the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce in Japan is recognizing two healthcare-related firms this year, with its 2016 Deshima Business Awards.

On November 17, members of the NCCJ took part in an inspection tour of Tokyo’s dynamic waterfront on board the Shin-Tokyo Maru, taking in the city’s sprawling commercial harbor facilities including container loading and cruise line docking facilities.
