General Information
Dr. Daan Kok, a curator of National Museum of Ethnology, Leiden will talk about Keiga Kawahara's folding screen this time. Keiga Kawahara, Siebold's personal painter, was active in Dejima, Nagasaki in the late Edo period. The Museum restored the only surviving folding screen created by Keiga Kawahara around 1836 over a period of two years through crowdfunding and opened it to the public last year. Dr. Daan Kok will explain the folding screen and introduce some of the museum's valuable exhibits. You also have a chance to receive a small gift by lottery at the end of the event.
